Default Battery Tender connection to battery

I have to think this is probably a stupid question. I want to connect this Battery Tender cable to my D2 battery. There's a screw on the positive battery cable I can use, but there's nothing on the negative side. Just the nut that is used to tighten the battery cable, and I don't think I want to use that. I have a plain battery that doesn't have any accessory terminals.

What's a good way to add something so I can attach the ring terminal to the negative side? Do I need to change the battery cable terminals?

Thanks in advance,

Sean.

Or do I just need to connect the negative to a ground point somewhere?

Yes, right outside of the battery box...there's a small terminal, which actually grounds right off negative cable...just attach ground there.

Wow, can't believe I didn't see that, works perfectly, thanks! Here's my connections:

I routed the connector through the side and over the headlight cover, and zip tied it to the battery:

It doesn't interfere with the battery cover. I can attach my extension easily and still close the hood if I want.

My D2 can sit for a while. Not cool when you want to drive it and the battery doesn't have the oomph to start. And I don't want to find out what it's like to not be able to unlock it.

Next on the list is to get a small extension so I can get to the connector from the grill. Then I shouldn't get locked out.

Any pointers on routing the cable to the grill are appreciated!

Default Update

I bought this
extension cable extension cable
so I could hook up the battery tender through the grill.

I rerouted the terminal connector to the side of the battery and connected the extension:

I put some black tape on the connection just in case, and zip tied the end caps to hold them in place:

Tucked the cables to the side of the battery and routed the extension to the front:

I routed the extension around the horn so it wouldn't flop around:

I made sure to get an extension cable with end caps to protect from the elements, and I use the cap to to attach it to the grill:

Now I can attach the battery tender without opening the hood, and I can tuck it into the hood in case of rain:

It's a simple thing, but was fun to do and makes it super easy to keep my battery charged and ready to go!

Thanks,

Sean.

I have one of these on an old motorcycle... good idea to add to the seldomly-driven Disco. Love it right thru the grille.
