Best cold air intake/headers/catalytic convertor?
Hi, I just bought a 2001 discovery as my first land rover. It's pretty clean, 145k miles, it's got the 4.0 engine. Does anybody know of a cold air intake on the market for it? Like a professionally built one?
I'm also interested in getting a better flow exhaust done on it. It would be nice if it sounded good too. What cats do y'all recommend to decrease backpressure and help the exhaust flow? This is my newest car, and I know I'd probably set off some sorta oxygen sensors or something if I tried cutting the cat out entirely.

Hedman makes long tube headers. Nice enough units, I had a set on mine.
If you look in my signature there's a link to write ups. I did one on making a CAI. as far as I know there are non-professionally available, and even if there are you can make just as good of a product for less money as I did in my write-up.
as for catalytic converters, I always go for the cheapest universals available. All modern catalytic converters are "high flow". Even factory catalytic converters are considered high flow style. you will notice zero difference in removing or upgrading catalytic converters until you hit the 600 plus horsepower mark.
Now, if you're going through the trouble of installing headers and upgrading your exhaust system you'll also want to upgrade to an aftermarket camshaft as well, otherwise gains will be minimal. Polish on the heads helps things a lot as well, but much more labor intensive. Of course, if all you're after is better sound then I'd simply replace the muffler and keep driving.
Keep in mind, headers also require more maintenance. Gaskets blow out more often because the flanges do not seal as well, and given the thickness of the tubes used they tend to rust out and need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years.
