Spike,
according to the emissions guys here, I can't throw any codes. I'll pull the code numbers today and post them to see what's what.

I used to drive an FJ60 land cruiser, so ABS and TC are luxuries to me....

Is there a posting of 3 amigos causes? I'm going to tryand fix mine, and it seems like a good idea to start at the cheap end and work upwards. I'm guessing that would be a bad/loose wheel sensor first? Then maybe shuttle valves and then ABS modulator and then SLABS unit? Anything else I should look for?

The crank sensor almost never throws a code though.

I am soooo glad that we dont have emissions testing here.

Per your question about converting to diesel, my suggestion would be to drive it a while before spending the time and $$ doing the conversion. Give yourself a chance to see if it is the 'right' vehicle for you. They are fun, but just the same, there are a bunch of wierd quirks on these vehicles that some love, other are annoyed by. Glad you found a nice rig.

Gents,
Many thanks for the help, posts, etc. The Disco is great, and I am really happy with the truck. Electrical quirks aside, these drivetrains are SWEET! I hate to say it, but they rival the old Land Cruiser I had.

Anyway, the front driveshaft is off to be rebuilt with the greasable u-joints, and the fluids/filters are being changed out as time allows.

CODES: The SES light is on, and I, fortunately, have a mechanic buddy with a scanner that works with these. We cleared all the codes, and the ONLY one that is persisting is P0340, Camshaft Position Sensor, Bank A. What can I do about this? Replace it? its a $280.00 part, and I admit the truck feels a bit sluggish sometimes, not to mention it won't pass emissions......blegh. But $280 for a bloody sensor? This is like owning an old BMW all of a sudden.....

Fuses are good, nothing there, however, the turn signals, fog lights, and rear windows work sporadically. However, their presence or absence is all in unison. If the turn signals work, so do my fogs and windows, but if one is gone, all are gone. Some sort of relay maybe? I'll browse through the RAVE book, but any shortcuts from you guys/gals would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

It feels sluggish? Its a 4500lb brick with a 188hp engine!!

The cam sensor is very expensive and rarely fails.
But you keep getting a code for it.
So I dont know.

When my cam sensor failed it kept blowing a fuse under the hood... I don't know if they all do it but I've read about a few. Don't know if this helps but its all I got. I threw up a little in my mouth when I was talking to the AB guy and he told me how much it was.
