blew oil pump on 04 disco 2 today! Need advice!

these ring gear pumps get fatigue cracks and can grenade...maybe a few bad runs during manufacturing? I have seen them in two pieces still functioning, but I don't think you can predict when they will fail......

Its fine, just put a new pump on it. I have done a dozen or so.

My outer ring gear was in 2 pieces when I changed the oil pump at about 95,000. Put a new gear on sealed it all back up, now I'm at 178,000. I have a 2003. All has been fine, still on original HGs.
