Default brakes

When I hit the brakes hard on a rough road the pedal practically goes to the floor.
I have learned that if I tap the brakes once on a rough surface and then apply pressure it is not an issue.
Ibelieve this is an issue with the antilock brakes, because I can feel the pulsation of the brakes that is unrelated to the road surface, but can not find a solution.

Any suggestions?

What year, how many miles, have you ever changed your brake fluid and what brake pads and rotors are you running?

2004, 52000 miles, Brake fluid had not been changed unless it was part of the usual scheduled maintenance. The brake pads were replaced at the dealership less than a year ago, with I assume standard LR parts.
I mentioned it when the pads were replaced, but this particular dealership has ignored other questions and requests.

That's your first problem, you are taking your truck to the stealer.

You may want to try and bleed the brakes. If it is catching after a pump of the pedal you may be pushing fluid to the calipers and then the second pump put enough fluid to the caliper.

Well, does the vehicle stop?? That should be the main question.

Secondly, mine does the same thing, and I just assume it is the ABS keeping the vehicle from skidding... if you let go of the brake for a split second, and push it down again, you should feel a definite difference in the braking distance and force. That's what I've been doing..

Hopefully this sparks some convo.

Partially normal and some of it can be corrected with a full brake flush. I would buy 2 quarts of Vavoline's synthetic brake fluid and spend 1/2 an hour and do a complete bleed.
