Default Buying a Discovery ... what to know?

So I'll be purchasing my first LR within the month. I'll be purchasing a Discovery on the cheap (under $7k or so) so it's looking like it will be 2k2 and older.

I'm wondering what is the best year (if they made any year to year changes) to look for and also what options, problems, max. mileage, etc ... I should look out for in the vehicles that are within my price range.

OR I could look at <99 Range Rovers - suggestions? I'm really open to either vehicle - though I feel kind of partial to the Disco.

Personally, I would get a 99 to mid 01 that you can lock the transfer case on by adding the linkage. Look for ACE, it will have shock-like things on the sway bar. Do a search on here for new buyer. There are tons of posts. Main difference is that they switched series in 99.
