Ok so back to my rover lol
so the leak would start when engine up to temp, and pretty much stop once shut off. I don’t think it’s weeping through the crank seal.
Trying to recall what I noticed.
the volume seemed to increase with longer run time.

Oh yeah and more I know before I go outside the better as temps around 20 and with wind chill sucks lol

So the main cause for oil leaks on the Rover V8 is crankcase pressure. You can put an o-ring on the cam sensor without issue and without removing the water pump, its much easier to get to if you remove the crank pulley (stick a socket extension in the flex plate to keep the engine from spinning). The front seal can replaced with the pulley off as well if you want, although typically that does not cause a large leak. The valley pan gasket can also leak if there is excess crankcase pressure, PCV resolves that typically however if the pressure was too large for too long it can damage the gasket and seals.

It is also possible for the head gaskets to leak oil at the front, although that is more rare. The rocker shafts are fed pressurized engine oil through the head gaskets via a passage in the block and the heads.

Always good to start with a good cleaning and maybe some UV dye to trace the leak.

Ok so it still leaking in that area grr, I have a new front crankshaft seal here at the house. Depending on the storm coming in I will pull th HB off and replace, also inspect the HB for burs etc.
Can i use something like a pvc pipe as a seal driver?

Yes, pvc is fine. Coat the outer surface with silicone sealant and tap it in with a small hammer side to side.

Crankshafts get scored by the seal over time often even a new seal will not help. You need a speedy sleeve. It will give you a new surface to seal. This one fits the disco, just used it on my 2004
