Cannibal V8 - Anyone with experience with them
I spoke to Steve this morning. I have 100% confidence in my decision and will continue to endorse Cannibal. Yes he has growing problems, yes he has turned over a mechanic, yes he has back log. But honestly he has a lot of new builds in the pipeline and frankly is just trying to keep up. A great problem to have in my opinion. I will tell you this, anyone that has good mechanical experience and wants a career learning how to build these motors - he is looking for new help to add to his team. As most know that run a business, getting and retaining great people is the number 1 issue that owners face. Steve is no different. He has had his share of BS with employees etc...He truly is looking at how to get ahead of the bell curve and get to the next step in growing his business. As a customer he wants feedback on my motor and any issues concerns I may have and he will be there for me if I need him. So far a great motor! No complaints.
There are also authorized LR repair centers that act as resellers for Cannibal. The Shop being one of them where I purchased. So for those that want a turn key deal they are there - just ask Steve who is closest to you. He also has customers that ship their LRs to him and he has back log on these as well.
What drives Steve nuts is having his customers wait on their builds. He was very apologetic on the wait times ...he is truly working on this everyday to shorten the wait. Adding talent to the team will be a plus to helping to ease this issue.
With Great Plains out of business he is getting lots of demand for motors and lots of calls from GP customers wanting help...go figure. As I have said since day one on this subject. Pick the damn phone up and talk to Steve. Don't hide behind your keyboard and bash and whine and complain. The internet is a great place but can be a bees nest of mis info and used as a whipping post. Yes, it may take some patience waiting on a call back from leaving a vm but Steve will call you back. And he is very personable and friendly and most knowledgeable. I look forward to meeting him face to face one day.

Wow David .you are really taking offense to this. To be clear I was simply saying that I would like to hear from others that have their own experience. Ideally these will all be great accounts. Though I do recognize your admiration, Not going to throw several grand at just 1 spectacular review. Not bashing. I don't think anyone is out to bash. I did call. Left message. It's only been a few months so maybe someone will call me back, yet. I think it would be great for us to have a premiere standard for a great replacement engine. I don't care who it is. Logistically, I would prefer it be cannibal. As of yet, I am not sold on cv8 being the best.
More reviews = more data= educated decision

I think you spend a little to much time defending Cannibal; i know you must fell better about your purchase.
But i dont see how you can dought another members or members who have had issues just becuase you didnt.
If i remember it took some crazy ammount of time you get you truck back from cannibal.

I'm the diesel mechanic that you're trying to put down I don't care if you impressed with me or not the thing about Steve is and the only thing wrong with Steve is he fixes a lot of stuff that ain't even supposed to be there for and that slows him down he cares he does a bang up job on the motors takes time and pride and every build yeah he's a little slow but for the quality you can't beat it and yes I am the old mechanic there we never use bad blocks never used any cheap parts everything is top notch clean and beautiful and once again the only problem with Steve is he fixes a lot of stuff that that truck is not even there for so he goes above and beyond a good build so you guys can talk crap about him all you want I personally have a problem with him but it ain't got to do anything with his work or workmanship and I'm pretty sure Danny never told you will use and bad blocks I'm a ASE master technician so don't matter if I know anything about Land Rover from diesel I can work on anything so thanks

Ok, let us all collectivelly put our effort where our mouths are.
Dave and I both have cv8s. To get the "More reviews = more data= educated decision", let's figure what we should monitor, what data to gather, and let's start putting it into a post which can be captured and analyzed.
Anyone else with cv8s to add to this?
Let's get the data and put this to rest!
