I need some advice/help with my D2 problem. I have an 03' Disco with 145k. Everything operates and drives smoothly. I have done a ton of maintenance, etc on it since I bought it. The only problem I am still having, is that I cannot manually shift the transmission into 1st gear. It doesnt matter if I am in low or hi, stopped or moving. In drive it seems to work just fine.It just physically will not go into 1st. Any ideas, suggestions? I really appreciate any guidance!

 

the first thing "I" would do is pull the cover off the shifter and see if anything has fallen into the shifter keeping from moving all the way back to first. The second thing to check would be the adjustment on the XYZ switch, but you will need someone inside the truck moving the shifter in order to check it.
