Default cdl lock low ?? can't 04 d2 se7

bought the truck used. its an 04 d2 se7. I have read and read some more. weather I am in parked or rolling 5-10 down the road putting it in neutral and trying to engage neutral on the transfer case and low is very hard. the transfer **** in my truck is normally positioned to the right when normal operation and when I immediately shift it to the left the lock light lights up on the dash. so lock high work now I have to use some pretty good force to push up and then the neutral light will blink sometimes but that's as far as I can get. I don't know when the last time the truck was put in locked low, but I cant get it there .. and suggestions how to remedy this situation.lube it or what not. any help will be great. thanks

Lack of use leads to rust/corrosion of the linkage. May have to open up console and get at the parts. RAVE shop manual will be handy.

After removing rust be sure to add grease around the joints to avoid future corrosion

High to Low takes MUCH more force than unlocked to locked. Do not be afraid! If you can get it into Low you're good.

i guess the vein in my forehead wasn't enough force. its stuck. when locked to unlock i can do with 3 fingers. as for taking it apart haven't dug into the rave Manuel but i assume its taking apart the entire console.. is this correct

YUP!!
Follow the Rave directions and completely remove the console, the remove the metal plate on the hump so you can then look down onto the t/case and shifter cables, clean and lube from them.
In the mean time, do not try a force the shifter or you will be buying some new parts.

well I took a half can of WD40 fro underneath. maybe that will work come morning time. the positive direct force just isn't cutting it.
