Default Charcoal canister

Hey,

Where can I get a new charcoal canister, I cant seem to find one online anywhere (I don't have secondary air, so its a different version)? I have been trying to diagnose my running rich problem P0172 P0175 for a while now. We did a full evap and vacuum smoke test and we found nothing. The only thing we did find was a charcoal canister full of fuel that was dripping out when we unhooked the lines. I suspect that this may be the cause of my problems or at least a start in the right direction.

Cheers

There is a place called D.A.P. near where I live. The guys there are really helpful. Their website is http://dap-inc.com They should be able to help you out if you can't find one.
Good Luck!

I was thinking about the rich condition...
Do you have a scan tool with live data? The reason I ask is, if your fuel trims look good most of the time, the rich condition could be popping up when the computer runs the evap monitor. An overwhelmed or saturated charcoal canister can do some weird things sometimes.
I just put one in my truck, not my Disco, but I think the previous owner topped the hell out of the tank every time he put gas in it. I couldn't get gas to pump into the tank very well because it wouldn't vent enough through the canister. If you stop pumping the first time the pump clicks off, you'll most likely never have this problem.

There's one on eBay for fifty bucks:

Might be a reasonable solution. If you are the scavenger type a trip to your local boneyard may also prove beneficial - there are Discos at every recycler I've ever visited. Unfortunately.

Unfortunetly this part has been discontinued by land rover and can only be ordered from the uk. This being said I swapped out the canister from my parts truck and it also had some gas droplets come out of the hole where the gas tank line plugs into it. Can someone else possibly reach under their truck and simply undo the quick disconect to see if it also drips out some fuel?

I changed the intake purge valve from the one on my parts truck for fun also. but still same results.

P0175 and P0172...

I think the canister if fine if you just got a couple little drops of fuel out of the tank line. If the canister is saturated to the point where it's no good, you will either get a P0446 code or something like that, or you won't be able to pump gas into it quickly. Or both.

Good news everyone, my vehicle is finally working properly and no longer running rich. As soon as I changed the injectors the truck leaned out to a normal adaptation and all emissions systems went into ready mode. My charcoal canister even with dripping fuel was not the culprit of my running rich codes. Thank you to everyone who's given their two cents of advise to help me along.

Before you go buying a part that you can not verify to be your problem, give us more information, what year, how many miles on it when did you do a full tune including plug wires and are there any other fault codes showing?

Hi Disco Mike,

I am happy to see you're back on the forum, all is running good now and I was able to plate my truck for the first time as well as pass emissions this morning. All emissions monitors were good to go...

Can't wait to get future help from you.
