is it possible to rebuild your own drive shaft? Like if you get the spicer 1310 series U joints, can u just put it on the original tubing? or would you need new tubing?

Yes you can rebuild it. See the link in the post above it gives the u-joint and centering ball part numbers and everything.

It says DII in the link, is that the same as the DI?

I'm pretty sure they are the same part numbers but not 100% sure. Better wait for spike or someone else with a D1. Its not as common because D1s came with greasable ujoints.

OK, welded the crack and ground it flush, measured side to side to make sure it was true. I was able to weld the crack with the transmission still in the truck. I ran a very fast bead and was on it for no more than a few seconds at a time, TIG with argon shield.

So far it's dry, now onto rebuilding the cardon joint.....
