Checking Oil Pressure
#11
Well waisted a whole bunch of time for nothing. I see now why there are so few post on checking the oil pressure. Because most people just install a gauge with an adapter.
It's nearly impossible to connect gauge/hose to the nut with the adapter in the timing cover. There's no room.
Just gonna put it back together and she runs fine until I can install a pressure gauge. This was an precautionary attempt anyway. But I did install a 180 genuine t stat. So we'll if that has any effect on the ticking in the mean time.

Not sure if you got the info you needed. I believe the dummy light comes on at 8psi. Cold idle is obvious... when the oil is ambient. Hot/Warm means after the OIL is fully warmed up, not just the coolant. You'd want to drive the truck long enough with enough load to get the oil up to temp. Check pressure at cold idle, cold 2k rpm, hot idle, hot 2k rpm. The minimum specs are in the RAVE.
My truck runs 18 PSI full hot idle, 55 PSI full hot at 2k RPM, 65 PSI full cold. Shell Rotella T, large MANN/Purolator 40316 oil filter
I bought a cheap adapter on ebay and installed an electric Glowshift gauge on my A Pillar in a custom molded pod.
Hope that helps
