The rear shaft came with one grease fitting and a plug for the slip shaft as stock, look at your rotoflex at the rear diff, is it cracking between the 6 bolts.
As for the front, If you have not rebuilt a double cardon drive shaft, don't start now unless you are real mechanical.
A rebuild, 2 new u-joints and a centering ball will run you around $200 to $250, a new one from Tom Woods is about $348 anew one from Rover is $800 or so.

Mike,
I just got the new U-Joints and center ball and I am taking it to a mechanic to get rebuilt. I didn't notice any cracks in between the 6 bolts. I am going to take the rear shaft off too, since I have the new joint. Hopefully installation will be a lot easier. It was a pain to get off some of the nuts.

you can either have your shaft rebuilt locally or by ToddCo ($175).

Or you can buy a burly Tom Woods ($350).

if you don't off road much, go for the rebuild.

When I told my mechanic I wanted the u-joints greased he said I really shouldn't do that too often because I'll blow the seals? What gives? Thanks - RR.

That is totally false.
You need to grease them at EVERY oil change and you need to see new grease come out past each and every seal on the end caps.
The only thing you need to worry about is in the winter time, if you try and grease the u-joints when they are to cold the grease that is already in there will be hard and wont get pushed out by the new grease.
But it has to be cold and the truck has to have been sitting all night or day in temps in the teen's.
If you were to drive it around the block first then you would be fine.

They are made to be greased. Pushing grease out of the end seals cleans the crap out of them.

The exact same chirping was happening for me about a month ago. I was planning on rebuilding the driveshaft anyway, and had the U joints and centering ball kit on hand. When I pulled out the shaft, and when took it to the local Drive Line Guy Of High Repute, He glanced at it once, grabbed a pen, and asked "What year Disocovery you got?" I didn't drive the Disco there, he's just done so many he can identify them from afar :P
