If you take it out you will be able to tell in a minute. Probably a 30 minute job to get it out.

Once I pull it out, what are signs that it will be bad?

Numerous things could be wrong with it. Here's a helpful diagram from Tom Wood's site that explains what can fail:

Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Failures

I had worn out u-joints as well as a yoke that had a notch in it. You'll most likely see the damage on the yoke or the u-joints when looking closely. You can always put a photo of it up here and the forum can help too.

You Tube also has some educational videos on the LR front driveshaft and troubleshooting. This just happens to be one of them:

How long have you owned the vehicle and who replaced the driveshaft six months ago?

I have owned it since July and my mechanic replaced it in November. Are there instructions or a video that shows how to pull it out?

Yes! There are several on YouTube... Once you get under and look it is one of the easiest things of all... just a couple of open end wrenches is all you should need.

It is dead simple you need :

2 x 9/16 wrenches - good wrenches not cheap
A couple of tire blocks the wedge shaped things you put under the rear tire
A jack stand

Process

Park on a level surface
Engage the hand brake
Block the rear tires
Jack the right side of you disco so the right hand front tire is just off the ground
Put the jack stand under there
Put your disco in neutral
Make sure your can turn the front right tire

Crawl underneath look at your front driveshaft you will see that there are 4 bolts on each end
Rotate the tire and take a look for any obvious damage

Now the fun part get the drive shaft where you can get a 2 of the bolts easily - with luck both ends
Back in the truck and put her in park
Pick a bolt put your wrenches on - make sure you have a good fit and take the bolt off
Get as many bolts out as you can
Back inside put the disco in neutral - get the next bolts lined up
Back to park
Continue removing bolts

Well before I installed it, I went to my mechanic and he checked it out and said the driveshaft was in good condition. He said it might be the brakes so hes going to check them out next week.
