Default Climate control will not turn off

Shut off the engine, remove the key and the climate control panel stays on. The problem is that the fan stays on as well. Over time it kills the battery.

Everything in the climate system works fine. No codes or warnings. It's as if the key is till in the ignition. How do I get it to shut off?

Thanks!

I would probably look for a stuck relay or something like that first. If you can't find the problem, you could try pulling the fuse for the climate control unit.

What relays should I check?

Where are they located?

Is the climate control actively powered, or does it require a powered shutdown?

I can't drive it because it's killing the battery every time it sits more than a few hours.

I'm betting you have a faulty interior fuse box.

Its a pretty common failure, although I've never seen it manifest as what you have.

Is there a way to test that?

It's literally like the key is turned on, even when I take the key out of the ignition. The climate control stays on and the fan blows at whatever setting you've left it on.

If I hit the power button on the climate control, it powers down, the lights go off, but the fan continues to spin at the low setting as if the keys were still in the ignition.

What controls the power to the climate control system, and how can it be getting power if the key is removed?

Look through the electrical diagram and see if you can trace the power.

i can't remember if there is a circuit in the engine fuse box that affects that or if it's just the in dash box.
