I am getting a couple of codes that have came up. I have a 2000 Disco II with 99k miles. I've owned it since new. Maintained as best I can. Always use Prem. gas. I am getting codes P0455 for the second time in a little over a thousand miles. Cleared it the first time, tightend the gas cap, and waited to see if it reappears. It did yesterday along with the code 1668. I have no idea what this code means. Any ideas? I am due for new plugs and wires. Been reading up on how to do that. Plugs and wires last replaced at the 60k service at the dealer. So my questions are about the codes and what any of you think? Also should I do a seafoam treatment before replacing the plugs and wires? My Disco runs and starts great. Just figured it was time b/c of my mileage. What do you all think? Thanks, DC

 

Buy a new gas cap and see if that takes care of the problem for the EVAP leak.

As for the other code...I have no idea.
I would wait on the new plugs and wires until either there is a problem or you hit 120k, whichever is sooner.
You can do the induction cleaning anytime.

 

1668 is a engine anti-theft signal circuit high, serial link has an open circuit.

 

DisoMike, what does serial link has an open circuit mean? Also thank you Spike for your help also. I will give the gas cap a try and go from there.

Means it is time to go see your mechanic, wish I could bee more help.

 

Always start cheap, thats why I say replace the gas cap, $15 and if it cures the problem great, if not your out $15.
Next step would be like Mike says and see your mechanic, but thats more than a gas cap.

 

Here is the info on P1668 from the shop manual. It sounds like you have some sort of a ECM and BCU mismatch. Have you had either replaced?

 

No I have not. A few years back I had hit a deer and the frount drivers side took a beating. The damage was only body work. I don't think there was much else that had to be repaired.
