Hypothetically, if I were going to try to sell the truck as it is, what do you guys think I could get for it? I’m just trying to weigh my options

all depends on the area your in. Here in Canada they are worthless if it’s not running or has a head gasket leak. Your lucky to get 1 k
it’s hard to justify spending 7-10 k on a rebuilt motor if I had extra money I would do it. I don’t like new cars so 10 k is nothing compared to spending 25-45 k on something new

Guy at the shop told me I might be able to get a couple hundred bucks for it. Sounds unbelievably low.

How many miles on it? Given the engine situation I would say $500-$1500 depending on miles. I never pay more than $1000 for trucks needing HG.

another thing is some say it needs head gaskets and you go find out its got a cracked block or something else, its a risky thing, now you have a rig thats worth nothing

The LS swap I was told if they do all the work you have to budget 10-15 k. Not cheap

Sources a 4.0 and have it dropped in. It's a direct fit, and less problematic than the 4.6. Beat te living daylights out of my 01 with 4.0...and even after drowning it...it ran pretty strong and never gave me a single issue.

That's to nice a rover to let go, fix it, in my opinion.
