Default Coolant Leak below Throttle Housing

I noticed today a coolant leak below the Throttle Housing. You can see the stream of coolant squirting out in the photo below...

Is repairing this as simple as replacing a gasket?

It is actually an assembly that you end up replacing, about $24 at the local rover dealer. The part that is leaking is the pre-heat for the throttle body. I just had to replace mine last month and from what I gather is a rather common repair.

Just had this done yesterday but it wasn't $24! Much more at the dealership but my Disco was in for a 60K tune up.

Also, they did a throttle body service while they were in there which the servicce tech said he recommended once a year for a Disco with more than 60K on it. Says it saves later on. That true?

yes and an induction cleaning, and dumping a can of seafoam in the tank. total cost $24. see Mike's 60k service sticky in the HOW TO section.

Here is a pretty extensive post on this subject. It has been discussed numerous times in this forum...I'll be bypassing mine soon...just started leaking for the second time.

So do I take both hoses off the throttle body and then join them together with a copper tube???
Please help, FYI Im in CA it never gets to cold so I should not worry about freezing... Thank You

Brandon

You can do that as a temp fix. But the repair parts kit is like $25. The freeze up would happen if you were in the mountains, pulling in cool air, get to the top of the mountain, start down the other side, and throttle is still stuck almost wide open. Have seen posts where this can happen at like 36F with right humidity. See Throttle Body Heater Plate Kit | Land Rover And Range Rover Fuel System Parts
