The jerry cans and CDL shifter I ordered came in the mail today. I'm just wait on the transfer case seal kit to come in so I can install the new shifter and seal it back up. I could have just used RTV but I have been eyeing this gasket kit for awhile and now I'll have all the gaskets and seals to completely reseal my T-Case. I've always have great success using RTV along with a gaskets so I think I should be able to stop the slow T-Case leak I have.

This is my first time using the website Rovahfarm.com but they had the Gasket kit for $11 so I decided to give them a try. If it turns out to be crap then I'm only out $17 after shipping and i'll just use RTV minus the gasket.

Attachment 21339
on my rover that part didnt have a gasket, it was white rtv

What time do they close? I still need to talk to my buddy about leaving early.

I got the smittybilt jerry can holders and my jerry cans are too wide(i also got the green nato ones), so now i am thinking of messing with the brackets or the cans...

but i got alot accomplished today

now if i can make the jerry can holders fit it would all be great.

I didn't even think to ask the bait place what time they close.

Yeah I know there is no gasket only RTV. I believe this kit is an upgrade option. I plan on using the gasket with a thin layer of RTV on each side. I have always had great success when using RTV along with a gasket.

My wife is thinking she doesn't want to go after I showed her the pictures of the sea weed, so I might be going solo. She said she would still go if you were bringing a lady friend so they wouldn't be alone. Have you seen any recent picture of PINS?
If it is super bad and we can't fish the surf then I have another plan. The last time I was down there I found a road that cuts over to the Laguna Madre side. The laguna side shouldn't have the sea weed problem.
Thanks, Betty is almost done with upgrades and i cant wait to see her finished.

AB still has them on sale
Land Rover Discovery Roof Rack Ladder (Same Fit As Genuine Part # STC50134)

Dont worry about the generator as i am taking a lantern and things to cook with that run on propane and either an 800w power inverter or a 2000w one.

My Fiancee is still coming, i did show her the pictures but they said its clearing up so i am hoping its not as bad as the pictures.

just need a high lift jack and the wide jack ground plate and i think ill be done with recovery gear.

Just an FYI on the Gasket Kit for the Transfer Case. They stopped using the gaskets and went to all RTV at some point. If you look in the LT230T overhaul manual, can be found in my sig, it shows the gaskets were used Up to serial no. 288709E.

1) Are the transfer cases different other than one not using gaskets and the CDL shifter removed? (will the kit I bought work on the D2)

The kit should work fine. There were some other very small differences I have found, but nothing major. Some lock nuts were replaced with spacers, etc.

2) Did Land Rover stop using gaskets to save money or was it because the RTV was a better product?
I'm not sure why they stopped using gaskets. But in the manual when rebuilding it does not state to replace the gaskets.

They made some stupid changes on these T-Cases around the same time, like removing the CDL, so I'm wondering if this was one of those moves that is better to change back to the old school way.

3) Do you think I should use just the paper gasket or use the gasket along with a thin layer of rtv?
Make sure you use an RTV that is rated for Differential oil. This is what I just used on my housing for the High/Low Casing that you will be replacing with the D1's. It says it can be used alone or with cut gaskets.

Permatex® Introduces Specialty RTVs for use in Transfer Cases, Differentials, and Automatic Transmissions - Permatex

I also have heard people have success with Permatex Right Stuff...but have not used it.

I think you will be fine with the gaskets and RTV.
