Default Crankshaft pulley

Hey,
I was wondering if it would be safe to drive the car for about 2 miles uphill with crankshaft pulley on its last breaths? I just bought a new one and have to get the car to mechanic, was hoping I wouldn't need to tow it...

What makes you think the crank shaft pulley is on its last breath?

The car hasn't been moved for a long time, and last time I took it for a ride (1 year ago or so) I could hear some weird noises while changing gears (automatic tranny). Took it to a mechanic which told me crank pulley needs replacing.

TD5 engine, model year 2001, 40k miles, automatic tranny.

I know nothing about this engine and won't comment. Sorry
