That is crazy. I'll do some Googling on this. I assume you found some guidance online about where to put this resistor and some specs on exactly what it should be (e.g. size) & do?

Solder a 50 watt/6 Ohm resistor in parallel to one of the LED brake lights and mount the resistor to metal so it can dissipate the heat from the resistor.

I did this also for my turn signal LEDs. I had a hyperflash/strobe light effect from the flasher unit. I fixed this by soldering in parallel one 50 watt/6 Ohm resistor to each front left and right side LED turn signals.

The "set" button definitely only pulls towards you. There's no click to it, from memory. The other one pushes and pulls to increase or decrease speed, but only after the system has been set.
