Default Cyl 4 Misfire UPDATE

Hey guys. Wanted to give a quick update to my cylinder 4 misfire issue as seen in this thread:

https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...-plates-51616/

I replaced the head gaskets, coils, plug wires , plugs and the power steering pump gasket. So far, no coolant loss, no codes and no exhaust in the coolant. A lot of folks were pretty sure i slipped a sleeve, but it looks like the head gaskets were the fix...for now anyway. I cant explain it, just know that's its working.

Congratulations - if no over heating that is great, no bubbles under dash, etc. I think people were concerned about water present at an "inboard" cylinder, did you find any issues with the old head gasket that pointed to any specific cylinder? And where are the pictures? BTW, don't brag too much before the ritual meat roasting to honor the Rover gods. It is said that lighting the fire with a match heated by the exhaust manifold brings more favor.

Good job. Glad it worked out for you.
Goes back to the old saying, if its not broken don't fix it!

Bleed it well.
I use the dynamic bleed method.
Raise the coolant tank.
Wedge stuff under it.
Take off the cap.
Get in the D2.
Go to HIGH HEAT with the heater
Run engine at 1500 RPM for about 10 minutes.

Replace cap.
Put tank back down where it goes.

Remove cap.
Top up coolant

replace cap.

Done!

Thanks mate.

I sure hope I got it fixed. It's been about 200 miles and she has been running great.

Nice tip on bleeding. Thanks!

Hell yeah, congrats man. I went through a small hell myself to get my truck back on the road. May you have many long miles before the next hiccup!
