You could do that no problem. I bought a used set so that I could have them ready to put right back in the truck and minimize the down time. I rebuilt my old set also and now I have a rebuilt set sitting on the parts self. The man with the most spare parts wins

OKAY GUYS!!!!! Now I am about to do something that hardly ANYONE does. GIVE THE SOLUTION. Lol. I get so tired of reading posts about issues, then when the person finds the problem, they never come back to share.
Well i am soooooo frustrated yet excited that I have finally fixed my Discovery. After all these years of searching for the solution to my lack of power, it took my BMW going bad to figure it out. On the BMW forum, they told me a possible fix for a lack of power issue just like the problem I was having with the LR. (Drum Roll Please) THE FREAKIN MAF SENSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been through hell and back trying to figure this out. Everyone here was trying diligently to help me as well.....and I thank you all. But the only thing it took to give me my Full Power back on my LR was unplug the MAF sensor. Meaning it was bad. No one EVER mentioned that to me, and I've never seen anything on any other posts about this sensor. I was told this is a common problem on BMW's, so I unplugged it on mine and Presto....... it ran like speed racer. So I thought, hmmmmmm, try that on the LR.
So I hope this helps a lot of others with their LR power isues.

If you read up on that sensor it is advised you purchase only the Bosch OEM unit for the discovery. If you get a cheap, aftermarket unit you may continue to have other problems related so don't skimp on the part. And don't drive around with your MAF unplugged believing that your car is fixed.
