I checked the seat heights when I got home last night and they are right about the same. I keep my D2 seat as low as it will go so if anything I would say it could be a little bit higher than the D1. Hope this helps... BTW: they are both stock.

Thanks! I drove a 2002 today & the visibility & seat position seemed better than the DI from a couple days ago. Unfortunately the DII had 2 blown head gaskets.

I think one of the improvements, or attempts at an improvement from the D1 to the D2 was to give you better view out of the windshield. I am not sure where I read this, but still you have to get use to the D2 compared to most vehicles when you pull up to a stop light or you will not be able to see the light if you pull up as close as you would in other vehicles that have the windshield laid back more.
