I am giving a "plug" for the ones sold by Rover's North as they are well priced. Other websites want way too much for a chunk of machined brass.

Ya I paid like $35 for two from BPUtah. But they didn't feel nearly as bad as getting my shuttle valve o-rings from falconworks... I felt like I could have used a rubberband just as well that cost $0.00 instead of $50

They are good ones. I always put a couple rounds of Teflon tape on the threads before I put them back in. Just one more cheap way to prevent a leak later on.

That or thread sealant, did you use the rubber O-ring?

I once worked after high school part time as a helper to a master plumber who explained to me that teflon tape which most folks use now and that pasty stuff in a tin or tube called "pipe dope" that used to get used are applied when fitting threaded pipes and fittings to lubricate the threads to get a tighter metal on metal seal and don't actually have any sealing capabilities on their own. Pipe threads are tapered so the more you tighten the tighter the seal between the threads. The machine threads on the brass plugs or the stock LR plastic ones are not tapered so they can never seal effectively, which is why they put an o-ring just behind the cap.

Just a teachable moment!
