Default DII Stuck in Drive

During the last big storm up here I had to park off the street at my buddys condo so I Did what any self respecting Land Rover owner would do and parked it off the road on top of a massive Tahoe snow pile. After I went home I parked the DII for a few days and when I went to use it again I had the M gear, the S gear flashing on the dash and the D light flashing on the shifter. Anyhow it would only drive in Drive and Reverse. After much trial and error I started the truck in Neutral the M was gone and the S mode was solid which I turned off. I shifted into D and went for a ride and the Truck shifted through all the gears fine any input on why my tranny freaked out and stopped shifting?

Check all your battery connections and ground, clean and tighten then run by a parts store and have the battery/alternator checked, needs to be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts, if below, that is your problem.

Thanks Mike. I have a Brand new Battery I need to install. I left out the part were I had to Jump the DII to get Her going. I knocked out the radio codes in our S4 by changing the battery and because we didn't have the codes the dealer wanted $130.00 to re-boot the radio. Am I going to kill the Stereo if I swap the battery in the DII?

When I changed my battery last year the only thing I had to reset was the climate control. It defaulted to Celsius. I didn't have any trouble with the radio code.

the radio has an internal battery. if you disconnect the car battery dependent on the radio battery it will either need to be unlocked with the code or not if the battery is still working correctly. if it is still working correctly than you just need to change the climate control over from C to F.

AS for the OP. I'm with Mike check the connections

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm just going to go ahead and swap the them out then. I just didn't feel like facing the wife again and explaining that her I Pod wouldn't be working in the Land Rover after the S4 stereo insanity. My climate control is in C I have the entire shop manual on my HD what section am I looking for to change to F?
Off the subject I got a few fun runs in a Promotive 944 Turbo a few years back that was putting mid 400's to the wheels what a sleeper the thing came on like a sedge hammer!(Shane83's vehix list)

Turn on the truck.
Turn on the climate control, push and hold the recirculation button in.
While holding the button in, push and hold the off button in for 3 seconds or until you hear a beep.

Thanks for the info! My Wife lived Abroad so she doesn't care but it drives me nutz! I went out and the battery is dead again so I'm throwing a brand new one in I have on a trickle charger. At which point I will be using your instructions to remove the metric system from my climate control.
