Default RE: Disco 1 1997 turbo diesel

I was driving on the 401 last summer and there was a decked out(we are talking rack, bars, lights, ladder, you name it) Discovery a couple of vehicles ahead of me.Of coarse I made it a point to end up at his back door, and noticed the "TDI" badge. When he pulled into a service station,I followed him and kinda got his attention by hollering "how did you get your hands on a diesel?!",he looked over at me and hollered back with a greasy grin,"don't ask!".We stood by our trucks and talked for a solid hour(I did most of the talking..begging to buy it!)and he explained that he was able to get the truck imported into Canada through Diplomatic means, but it could not change hands for the next ten or twelve years, and would have to remain property of the British Government until then.It was a pretty interesting story to say the least, but I did happen to get the Guys phone number which I'll start calling.....in ten to twelve years! Oh yeah, this Disco was "made to order" as well, premium two tone leather(the really good stuff),burl wood shift *****,and lots of exclusive interior trim goodies, plus the "Special Vehicles" ID plate on the rad support. It must have cost a fortune when it was new. So,to answer your question, yes Diesel's are good!
