Disco 2: How to replace the thermal switch in EAS compressor
Please help: (I have 99Disco2, with compressor model WABCO 100041) I have searched this site through and through and have not found step by step information on how to replace the thermal switch on the EAS compressor for my truck. I converted to coil springs and didn't have my compressor turned off correctly by the dealer and I want to convert back to air. Now I see plenty of treads for the P38 RR compressors but I need to know how to test the thermal switch because I think it got to hot. Also I know I could replace it but would rather rebuild it instead. Thanks
If it is part of the compressor Rover most likely thinks it is a whole unit swap out. The ground wire for the compressor is under the hood and can be easily disconnected. Back to air may bring back more issues.
Well I want to go back to air because the conversion kit I've been using for the last 2 years kinda sucks. My rear end sags because the springs are not heavy duty enough and I can feel the weight of the car so much more then before with every bump. So if I can just see of my compressor works properly I can just buy new bags. I used the jumper method and my compressor comes on but does anyone know how to test thermal switch on this unit?
the only way your going to test the thermal relay is to get the compressor hot, if the compressor runs go with it. I had the same problem when I bought mine, went back to bags.
Place an ad in the wanted section for EAS parts I did and got a ton of stuff for penny's on the dollars, a lot of people have done spring conversions and just have the stuff laying around, or in a lot of cases still have the compressor on the truck.
I even got a set of month old Arnott Bags because the guy's compressor went and he did a conversion instead if fixing it.
