Default Disco 2 questions

Hello All, so new to this forum and pretty new to LR's in general. Long story short, had a 2005 Rubicon, traded in for a Grand Cherokee since it fit my needs better. Now I miss off roading a lot and always wanted a Land Rover. Going to use it as a daily, and off road it. My question comes in with the t-case on these. In order to have the CDL, I wouldn't just need a shifter linkage, I would need a different t-case as well, from a Disco 1. Is that correct? How common are the t-case and such for a swap? I can't find any decent D1's in my area, and since it's a daily(and the gf will be driving it), I think the D2 is better for my situation. Looking at a 2002 and 2003 as of now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If your looking for a CDL 2002/03 are probably the worst years to look at. 1999-part of 2001 have cdls and only need a shifter, 2004 is ready to go. 2002/2003 will require a new transfer case as well as a shifter

I saw 2004 is good to go. Not a fan that the 02-03 aren't ready as I can't find any in decent condition in my area, especially in the colors I would like. Everyone around wants way too much $ in my opinion, but maybe that really is the going rate. So i'm guessing the 02 and 03 would both need a new t-case and shifter. Could I pull t-case out of a 99 and it would bolt right up?

Roger that, appreciate it. I saw there are some write ups, I'll look into them some more and continue with my search of a LR.

Can anybody tell me where the vin #'s would be located on a D2? I'm guessing driver side on the dash, but anywhere else? A dealer is selling one, listed as a 1999, vin # checks out to be a 1999, but judging by the body, it is a 2004, with the thicker roof bars, head lights and tail lights, and also a HSE model. Seems a little shady, but maybe someone swapped everything over if that is possible?

Swap is possible. the easiest Vin to read is on the drivers door jamb.

I have free Carfax reports by license plate if you want me to run any for you.
