Disco 2 Windshield Top Moulding Fit Issues
Just used the dealership-recommended shop for heated windshield replacement on my 2003 Discovery II and am wondering if others have had any experience like mine. Could use some advice on how to proceed. The upper moulding / molding (LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 II 99-04 FRONT WINDSCREEN TOP UPPER FINISHER DCB101510) was destroyed by the technician so a replacement part was ordered through the dealer. The technician insists it is short by about 1.5 inches, leaving gaping holes at either end which he wants to fill with silicone. I ordered another of the same part from Land Rover and it is the same length, still too short. Has anyone else replaced this part and discovered a trick to making it fit?

To answer the above questions (thanks for weighing in):
1. Sixpack577 - The part I was asking about was the strip which runs across the entire top of the windshield but I recognize the drip rail front tips may have been reinstalled incorrectly and possibly broken in the process so I have attached photos of left and right upper corners of the windshield to illustrate the problem. You will see the gaps at each end of the strip. Does that answer your question?
2. Dave03S - There is a tab on each end of the strip which are intact but it looks like mine doesn't extend as far towards the outside edges as yours or is there an additional part which I am completely missing?
Hopefully you can see why I am wondering if the installer has somehow done something which prevents the upper finisher from reaching all the way across.
Thanks for weighing in on this mystery.
Bob
P.S. Sorry I can't figure out how to resize these pictures on the forum page.

Sorry about the delay - my previous reply hasn't appeared so I will try again. Here are a couple of pics which illustrate my question. I think Sixpack577 is referring to the drip rail finishers which you can see in the pictures (I'm not confident they are installed correctly or are undamaged). I am not sure what tabs you mean, Dave03S. Hopefully the picture will answer that as I am not aware of any additional parts. Thanks,
Bob
