Disco 2 Windshield Washer Jets Replaced - No Pressure
Hello All,
Title is obvious.... now for the details.
Passenger side jet went out. Decided to replace both. Got the Freelander washer jets to be thrifty and save $40... It seems to be the same part according to the internet. Let me know if these Freelander jets are no good.
I installed the jets, and now I have no pressure! Just a little trickle comes out both jets.
Things I tried:
-Adjusted the jets with a pin. They moved but no pressure is no pressure....
-Asked the mechanic about it. We tested the lines and fluid is coming out. The pump doesn't appear to be broken. He said it was the plastic 90 degree joint on the hood. I replaced that with a straight part, no fix.
-I did some research online, thought it's the non return valve. I ordered one, and installed it at the hood joint location. I figure, two non return valves won't cancel themselves out. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Things I didn't try:
-Maybe I installed this non return valve backwards? I'll try flipping it.
-Maybe the pump is on the way out? So fluid comes out of the hose but not enough pressure for the jets? How could I test that?
Thanks all!

Do you still have your old jets? If so, did you swap them back in to see how they perform? If the one is still shooting good, then I refer you back to my first quotes. It could be that the new vehicle has a more powerful washer pump, and as you are wondering, maybe your old pump is weak or never had the umpf necessary to begin with.
FWIW, I got a Dorman universal jet and love how it works. WAY superior to the factory jets. Here in the mountains in the winter, I consider the factory jets to be useless.
I'm pretty sure it was this one. There is some discussion surrounding this post that might be useful.

I really don't think this is because my jets are low flow. Lots of people across the forums agree you can use jets from other vehicles with no issues, including the Freelander jets.
I installed a check valve just before the lines break up, and it didn't fix the issue. The lines do not seem to be clogged in any way. I'm thinking the only possibility at this point is that the pump is just dying and cannot provide enough pressure for the jets. It's $30 for a pump, I'm going to go for it and update the thread.

Okay just an update yah I'm stubborn the jets I got were trash. The Dorman jets from amazon work great, and look indistinguishable from OEM jets.
Couldn't say if it was initially the motor, return valve, or jets as I replaced all 3. But all in less than 60 bucks including trial and error so it'll be chalked up as one of those fun learning experiences.
