Discover 2 Door lock actuator repair
Bringing this up because I feel bad that all my posts are issues...
My passenger side door will not unlock. However, it will lock. But, only on the second click of the fob, whereas all the other doors lock on the first click. Odd. Is this an actuator issue?

Thank you. Any current info on replacing the electric motor floating around? Everything I find in the search archives are bad links... New actuator from Roverparts is $140, which is a bit more than I'd like to spend for a problem of this amount of inconvenience...

Hello Guys....
This thread is old, but it is useful to add the information about the small motors.
The motors can be purchased in Amazon or Ebay. The motors are the 20mm Long Shaft Mabuchi Motor FC-280PC-22125. I have just purchased 8, price was 32bucks (free shipping) at ebay. Price starts in 5 dollars per motor when buying separately. I have now one door stuck (rear, driver side) and will replace both motors (superlock and actuator). This way I will not touch the same door again.
Hope this information helps!

Johnkbl,
Have you already received and installed the 20mm Long Shaft Mabuchi Motor FC-280PC-22125?
Reason I ask is to verify if the superlock motor requires reverse polarity (switching the leads).
Headed down to Guatemala for the holidays.
Thx!

Hello!
Not yet... I have been involved fixing several other issues in the car (I am finishing the conversion of a 2003 Discovery to a 300tdi engine) and have not had time to fix this. I will take some months due to holidays and other issues with more priority.
If you are in Guate and have time, maybe can give me a call so we can check how these motors work.

I am by no stretch of the imagination a qualified mechanic and I was able to do this.
I have read some of the posts that say you do not need to remove the window frame to replace the lock mechanism. My experience yesterday says that you do and it is not that difficult.
Step 1: Remove inner door lining and fittings. 3 screws.
Step 2: With window down. Loosen window frame screws. 3 on left, 2 on right and one nut (socket needed) connecting door to middle pillar.
Step 3: Remove external trim at base of window. One clip at each end on inside of door.
Step 4: Lift out window frame. This was the most difficult step as it took some gentle manipulation to free it. Loosening the glass from its carrier would likely have made it easier.
Step 5: Disconnect lock actuator from outside handle and internal manual lock lever.
Step 6: With window up. Remove lock actuator by removing 3 screws on outside of door.
Step 7: Disconnect power supply (Clip top and bottom) and cable from internal handle. It is much easier to disconnect the cable from the actuator instead of the handle.
I hope that someone finds this useful.
