Red face Discovery 03 STALLING

My baby has stalled while driving and has had a problem starting up~
The battery seems fine but when I try to turn it over it will not start the engine.
Thought it was the fuel filter but the mechanic said that the fuel filter is only able to be changed by removing the engine?
I read different on this site.
2nd thought~ Air Mass Flow Meter. My truck has recently had poor gas mileage, worse than before.
Anyone else had this problem?
I love my DISCOVERY and trying so hard to keep it!

How can your battery, "SEEM TO BE FINE", when it won't turn the engine over???????????
Go get it charged or replaced then you can start with the basics, in the mean time don't throw any parts at it till you have it running and see if there are any fault coeds.

Your mechanic is an idiot. There is no fuel filter on a disco two. If it turns over but won't start sounds like an issue with the crankshaft position sensor. you can jump the relay to see if the pump activates.

Has the oil light been on for a while.

LOL @ removing the engine to change the fuel filter.. Wonder how long he looked for it before he came up with that excuse to not change it. Hahahaha yes, there is no fuel filter on your truck.. Ditto on the crank sensor or the wiring for the sensor. Very unlikely but may be a shot EMU. Change the sensor first.

I just called the mechanic again and shared with him your information, he ordered a new sensor and I am praying thats what it was that needed to be changed.
Thank you all so much. They said also that the battery they tested and the air flow meter and that they are fine! I had no idea that it had no fuel filter, very good to know. This is what happens when a 31 yr olf SWF has a L Rover... THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE!!!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!
