I apologize for this interruption to the thread, but as a native Nebraskan, where Vise Grips were invented, I am a zealot for proper spelling of the name. Vise Grips are a well-known tool. I don't know what "vice grips" are, but the possibilities are endless ... Just havin' a little fun!

It's really just straight-up force that works. Bigger pliers if you have them.

I don’t think it’s the pin. Mine came out shortly after purchase of my ‘04 and just last night I had to put the bolt back in that I put back then (I put some lock tite on the nut this time).

But my point is, ever Disco I’ve had, makes this pop. I dunno. Things still work so I don’t really care.

I just replaced my pin with a new one. drove it down to match the one on the passenger side. used some anti-seize on the pin to lube it. same noise still when opening. so it has to be coming from whatever that latch with the hole in it coming from inside the door. I guess that is another weekend job...

I have the same noise on my driver's side doors. Lots of different lubes have made no difference.

IMO, its not the roll pin but the hole that the roll pin goes into at the body. That hole/body mount becomes elongated over time. I suppose an oversized roll pin and a resizing of the hole would remedy the situation but I haven't tried that approach. Hope that someone comes up with a good fix!

My drivers door on the TD5 makes a helluva (double) pop when opening it.
The pin hole is huge. Never had a pin in it, was just nothing when I got the truck.
M6 bolt with a nylock now, but it's loose....
