My bracket has now broken the weld at the A pillar. I removed the roll pin and currently catch the door bottom with my left foot or with my left hand on the door handle. Going to have my engineer brother who owns a steel fabrication company to come up with something. Perhaps bolted from the outside. Not interested in repainting the A pillar after welding. Will keep everyone posted. My truck is a daily driver with 318K miles on it, so the door’s been opened a lot. 😉
That sucks....sorry to hear that. wind catch the door?
No, just eventually broke over time. Had a body shop repair it about 8 yrs ago, did a good job, welded and repainted, cost a bit. But has broken again. The bracket on the A pillar is loose and no longer attached so I removed the pin and pushed the retaining strap into the door.
Now I make sure to catch the door

Mine is snapped also and looks like someone did try to weld it once. I am going to try to just rivet in webbed straps like my Jeep has. I don't think there's any material left to weld after I cut away the snapped broken welded parts.
got the bushing installed. no more noise when opening/closing the door. had to do a bit of fashioning of the bushing to get it in. snug fit.
NOTE: I had to pick up a 12" extension and a 23/64 hex style end drill bit for the extension to drill out the wallowed hole. to get the hole 100% straight/centered. this left 1mm
fo play with to fit the bushing in. a few swipes with a round file in the hole and it went in licked-split.
