If cooling system, if you will be removing a hose clamp, keep in mind that rad hose could fail if you are not careful with it. Lower hose might not be in stock locally. Main trick will be getting air purged from system upon re-fill, lots of posts on these. There is a drain plug on a D2, but not on D1.
When you said read the manual, you do have a copy of the RAVE, with all the shop manuals, owners manuals, etc.? Free below.
If transfer case, see D1 Transfer Case Fluid Change with Pictures - Land Rover Forums - Land Rover Enthusiast Forum; and be sure fill plug can be removed before draining. Works better if you back truck up on to ramps, nose down, safety truck so it can't roll off and squash you.
