Default Driver Side Window INOP

My driver side window stopped working this week. No signs it was going bad except that I could not have the door open and operate the window. All other electrical devices work on the door. All other windows working well. I hear a ticking sound from the glove box area when I depress the up/down switch. When I look at the RAVE manual it states that near the glove box is the rear window relays but does not state anything I could find about the front window. A friend that used to have a Disco stated swapping relays first to see if something was bad before tearing the door down, but I cant find the front relays mentioned anywhere. Any suggestions?

The wire that runs the front window goes to the door in mid-air along with several other wires in a cable. If wire is bad, it may work when door is in one position or another, or not at all.

From the RAVE, no relay.

When a Front Window Switch is operated, the switch
grounds one of four Window Lift ECU input terminals.
This signals the Window Lift ECU to apply voltage
and ground to the respective window motor. If the
front window switch is held in the down position for
more than 1/2 second, the express down feature is
activated. The Window Lift ECU will operate the

window motor until it is completely lowered.

I'd start by removing driver footwell kick panel and investigating connectors under there. Looking for pink with brown and blue with brown wires. If you can't read ohms for the motor thru the cable the volts can't get there either. You can meter for volts and see if you get anything when switch is operated.

You can verify that central locking is not involved by opening door, depressing jamb alarm switch, and problem should remain if no linkage to locking system.

My driver's window stopped working a couple weeks back. I hear a very high pitched (12-13k) squeal coming from behind the glove box. I will pull the kick panel out today

Charlie (Savannah Buzz)
Got the kick panel and Door trim off and found no abrasion but do not have electrical tester to check as you stated. Did find the rubber grommet not protecting the wires from the metal pass through. Have to find someone with the equipment and knowledge of how to use it next.
