Zack your steelies are proline correct? Isn't Proline just Rovers North stamp of approval? And isn't Proline associated with Terrafirma, Britpart, Allmakes4x4 etc?

So I've been reaching extensively to various manufacturers and suppliers in the UK. They have been most helpful so far even when it was concluded that they did not have what Iam looking for. Anyways Rimmer Bros referred me to a fabricator company in the UK called Rakeway precision & motorsport engineers. I emailed them and asked if they make any wheel adaptors for Discovery 2 that will enable Defender steel wolf wheels to be installed. His response gives me hope:

"Hi Julian
Thank you for your enquiry. We can supply you with our adaptors which will fit your 120PCD Disco 2 axle and allow you to fit the 165.1 PCD Wolf Rims off a Defender

5 off will cost £315
Shipping to 0380 New Hampshire is £128.76

If you wish to go ahead with an order please let me know and I will email you an Invoice for payment.

Look forward to hearing from you
Regards

Neale

We have a customer who just last week bought the terrafirma steel wheels with the lug nuts that LK8 provided and he has been driving with zero issue. I just got off the phone with him.

How many sets of lugs did Mike and Eric sell him? I lucked out with 2 different sets. Now Eric claims both types of lug nuts are compatible with these wheels. Hopfully Terrafirma will get back to me seeing how they are the manufacturer their word is final.

Not sure this helps, but I just talked with two buddies with older TF steel wheels & they’re both running theirs with the OEM lug nuts. They both said they had zero issues with vibes or with the rims getting damaged.

Today I removed each wheel, inspected the lug holes then remounted each wheel one at a time; doing my best to make sure each wheel is properly centered around the hub. I ended up using a flat head screwdriver to manipulate the wheels into the desired position then slowly tightened one lug at a time. When examining the lug holes I could definitely see where the powder coating is peeling off where the lug mates with the wheels. But the holes themselves dont appear to be warped or oval shaped. However Iam not an expert and I do not know what is acceptable or what is red flag. I took pictures of each wheel after I cleaned them up and mounted them back on the truck.

After words I tested the truck on the highway and noticed a difference. The steering wheel does not vibrate at 65-70mph anymore but occasionally around 45-50 when you let off the accelerator. But as soon as you apply the brakes or accelerate the vibrations in the steering wheel go away instantly. I do feel some minor vibrations in the wheels though. I cant really tell if its normal considering the k02 tires and heavy steel wheels iam running or if it's a sure sign of an issue. It's also worth noting that when I had the wheels first mounted the guys at the tire shop asked me of I wanted the balancing weights applied on the inside of the wheel or the outside. They said some folks with steel wheels put them on the inside and it looks better so I thought it over and told them to put the weights on the inside of each wheel. Could this be an issue? Perhaps these lug centric wheels require the balancing weights to be applied on the outside of the wheels?

Weight placement should not matter if they did it right.

Did TF ever get back to you on lug nut compatibility?

TF has not responded as of yet. But a couple other LR parts merchants in the UK has been in touch with me and have also indicated that these tf steel wheels need the ANR4851 lug nuts. These lugs are bigger than the lug holes on the wheels though and when you torque the lugs up tight there is still a concern because the studs dont even go all the way through the lugs. Maybe the studs need to be longer?

The wheels are centered as best as I could make them. Even had a helping hand stand back and eyeball them to see if they looked centered. But the wheels still vibrate up through the steering wheel at 45 mph. At 65 all is well again.
