Electric fan recommendation
#11
Main reason I recommended that fan is because from what I understand the shroud fits good on the factory rad setup with minor modifications. My friend has it setup with the Derale relay kit and its controlled by an LS ECM.
Going to a radiator that isn’t designed specifically for the Disco is going to mean modifications, especially with the way the oil / trans coolers connect up. I also wouldn’t trust many eBay/ Amazon marketplace sellers for radiators and electric fans. There’s just too much junk out there and if it goes wrong the results could be very bad.

That amazon setup = is going to create hot spots & IMHO those fans are to small vs shroud area. "If" you just gotta have an efan you want nearly all fan and very little shroud to avoid hot spots. D2 wise the coolers aren't part of the main radiator, but you would still have to fabricate brackets to support them.

Honestly, this is not a project to rush. I'd take the time to plan it out. It may take a while to get good parts, but the end result will be good. If you are under a time constraint I would recommend putting it back stock (or with a heavy duty fan clutch), and then revisiting this after you get a solid plan together.
Blown head gaskets / cracked block is not worth rushing to install a poorly designed eBay / Amazon marketplace fan setup.

I did a 500.00 Efan setup on my H3 Hummer Alpha with the 5.3L V8. Like the D1/D2 the cooling is on the weak side with a small grill opening. The OEM fan clutch/fan blade didn't seem to be cutting it so I ordered the $$$ kit from a company and I even had to send my PCM off so they could enable the onboard trigger for the efan's to engage at 195F. I got the kit totally trusting in this company and it was not cheap so I figured it had to be truly tested and worked. I slapped it on, wired up the Efan, and immediately I personally thought boy that fan sure isn't covering the entire surface area of the shroud..... I then loaded up the family in December of 2013 and we drove non stop to Orlando, FL. It was fine on the way there as I was driving at night. Lag on the engine was gone, but I did notice the headlights would flicker for a second when the Efan did kick on. Well once in FL I noticed during the day on very short trips the temps were no better or slightly worse than my OEM setup. We made it back with no issues. Two months later I had a wedding to attend near San Antonio, TX. The H3 usually stayed in the 195-215F range depending on the AC and the weather. Well 35 miles into the trip I saw it go past 215, 220, 225, and up to 230F. I pulled over removed all the lower skid plates, and let it cool down while the wife wondered WTH I was doing. Well back out on the road it went back up to 225F pretty quickly.... I said to my wife well a 500.00 Efan kit is about to toast this perfectly good 5.3L V8. The last temp I saw was 240F before by a miracle it started to rain and my temps got down into the normal range. I told my wife we were going to the wedding and then driving home in the dark aka cooler weather.
I made it back, ripped out the Efan setup, slapped on my OEM setup and I was back in the 195-215F tops range. I emailed the company explaining how it DID NOT cool my setup, and how I was not happy nearly killing my perfectly good engine due to their product. I was then told oh we just re-designed the shroud with flaps and a larger efan... I said ok so just send me the newer design and I'll try that. I got sure for 500.00 we can send it to ya..... I was beyond pissed. I got online and trashed their product and their company. I then did my own research and found out in Saudi Arabia they actually had a dual Efan setup in front of the radiator kinda like the older RRC/D1 setup. However you couldn't get it in the states. Since I already had wiring for an Efan I mounted a 16inch fan in front of the AC condenser, and I even upgraded the fan blade to a Ford Explorer V8 metal fan blade with more blades. That combo worked excellent and I was 193-210F tops after that.
After that I DO NOT trust any Efan setup..... The OEM fan clutch/fan blade is overall the best choice IMHO. The 5.3L engine is much more durable when it comes to running hot vs any LR so IMHO you are risking your entire engine by just slapping in some Efan setup.
