Default Electrical tap question

Looking for a 12v illumination (backlight for gauge which will dim with lights on) in passenger footwell.

does anyone have suggested harness or wire information to splice into?

Check out this thread for in cabin switched power:https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...e-my-d2-68943/

I keep it bookmarked for reference. I think you will be particularly interested in S12, Terminal 2 which energizes 12v when the light switch is turned on. You will have to get a pretty small gauge female terminal crimped on the end of a wire to connect it in, but it’s not hard!

Yep, thank you.
Excellent information. I was able to source a dimming source closer to passenger side after some time with a test light.

cig lighter

After some time this winter- I slowly rebuilt my dash ( I have been migrating parts from one disco to a younger more attractive one) - I used a Switch-Pros panel this time after years of accumulating switches - aside the expense, im very happy with it.
the wiring diagram is says to tie the illumination wire for backlight to side marker. Silly me did just that which the D2 side marker is actually just a blinker..
put dash back together Saturday after 6 months apart - and the next step on my list is swapping Transfer cases. So I removed center console- replaced the cig lighter with a blue-seas dual charging port - and right there staring me in the face is the illumination wire for the ring around the original cig back lighter which is now obsolete in this truck

I’m using the passenger footwell as the passage for wiring harness. So I was hoping to keep the 12v draw as close as possible

oooh I may have to go switchpros when I upgrade from my amazon special 6 switch box...really don't want to pay the premium but a 12 gang switch box would be nice as I need more switches and the switchgear model (mine is cheap copy cat) is so simple to use.
