Default Engine will not start, Advice please?

Just recently purchased a 2001 disco II from the previous owner. everything ran fine until the engine decided not to turn over. The battery is fine, radio plays, lights turn on, etc. No engine crank. Could this be the alternator? I was running really low on fuel, could this be the reason? I feel like the engine would start to crank if it was a fuel issue. Let me know what the possible issues could be please.

Is the red security system light on or blinking in the gauge cluster?

I tried to start it again this morning. Something clicked then the battery completely died. I think the voltage was low to begin with. Might be time for a new battery.

You have a dead battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
Remove it have it tested and replaced with one having 800 CCA or higher.

Try cleaning the contacts first, but a new battery certainly isn't going to hurt.

And you will find no end of posts on this forum for things that can drag down a good battery. From transfer case lock out relays to rear door sub woofer amps.

So i tried to start it again today and it worked. Now im thinking a grounding wire may be loose somewhere. The battery and the alternator are good triple A came out and tested them both.
