thank you, I can and do follow directions. The flashing and the miss fire has stopped and i was only taking SWMBO to the air port and not all the way down. The disco is laid up and I will be into the auto shops in the morning to get a scanner. I may be British but i am not stupid and was only asking if any body had had a similar problem as I use to fix defenders and heavier green equipment not use to 4.6 V8's as they are to expensive to run in the UK

Mr. G,

The jump from an older Defender to a D2 involves a lot of electronics. Suggest you download the RAVE set of shop manuals. Link below. Also, here is a link to a 4 meg publication about the codes for D2, with more tech info. http://jimsrover.afraid.org/rover/di...BD2%20info.pdf

Mr. G.,

Please understand that all levels of expertise are welcome here, and we frequently have new posters who have worked up the nerve to ask a question, but not the nerve to check the oil level on the dipstick. People are trying to keep someone from making a damaging mistake, it is a level of concern that is a positive action, but may be a little gruff to get attention.

Having worked on Defenders, you would be more at home on a D1, but the D2 will be easy to master with the documentation.

You'll also find this to be a lively bunch, full of questions and suggestions, and a few OM's thrown into the mix (Obnoxious Maximus).

Just a side note That I found out about auto zones here at least in south florida, they are not allowed to CLEAR codes, so for me, Ill be getting one... I like that KIWI wifi to use with my iPhone... Any experience with this one? its about $150
coupled with that O'Car radio ( Oxygen Audio ) one could have everything at fingertips right on radio dash! hmmm...

I got a plain jane one that I can move from car to car, but I must admit the advanced widgets are interesting. But I also subscribe to the conspiracy theory that dealerships download new trouble codes to pop up when you pass within wifi range. Don't want my Disco to start reading this forum, something else will leak...
