Front Crankshaft Seal Hint
Hey Folks,
I have had a leak in my front crankshaft seal for years. I finally got around to replacing it with an aftermarket seal from AB (Allmakes). After a day, it started leaking again. I am sure I am partially to blame because it was a PIA to install the new seal.
So I bought a new seal from the dealer. I have a friend who is opening a new Rover Shop here in the Charlotte area and he recommended that I use red RTV around the outside of the new seal. I did and it fixed 2 things. One, it was very easy to insert the new seal, I actually did it by hand. Second, the leak is gone...finally.
I know it is an extra measure and technically not needed, but I have been running it for a few weeks with absolutely no leaks. I can honestly say that I now have a 12 year old Land Rover with no leaks!
