I have heard that the OEM front driveshaft does not have a grease fitting which can cause it to fail. I checked mine this morning and found that it had a grease fitting. Does this mean it has already been replaced?

 

No. If that is the only grease fitting in the shaft, it has not been replaced. The original shaft had a fitting at the front joint, but the 2 rear joints were sealed. Replacement shafts have fittings at the rear joints also.

Don't grease it, replace it! After I bought my used D2, I greased it where I could and then it failed and took the transfer case output shaft bearing with it. It looks like the greasing made the shaft turning unevenly and causing vibration. After 200 Miles Hwy transfer case it was shot. Repair was very costly since the shop wanted a new TC in and their labor is not cheap here.
