Here's a pic taken this evening. While it’s true my ’99 has a grille from an ’04 installed, there is more to the story.
In mid-2015 I installed a Terra Firma front bumper. I found using my truck’s original grille would require trimming it substantially on the bottom. I was able to find a facelift grille at a local boneyard, cutting an opening in it as shown to accommodate the winch clutch lever.
That said, the ’04 grille does just drop right in. The two “pegs” on the bottom and all the holes along the top edge line up.

That makes sense, since the '99-'02 pre-facelift grilles are taller than the post-facelift, '03-'04s.
It occurred to me that Best4x4 has the same grille setup on his '02 Kalahari.
I went looking and found his post in another thread. This post is from January 2019, 3½ years after I installed the '04 grille on Redrover, but it may well have been Best4x4 who gave me the idea way back when.
