Hi everyone! I hope you're all well and greetings from Canada!
I'm having a fuel leak issue right at the intake of the fuel rail. I think I've narrowed it down to the little plastic connector that snaps the fuel line into the fuel rail being cracked. My issue is that I'm having a heck of a time getting that connector out.
I pulled off the fuel rail to see if it was perhaps cracked on any of the welds but it seems fine and when I run the fuel pump gas pools right on top of the valley gasket. So here we are. I have taken off the Oetiker Hose Clamp, I have a replacement, and I still can't get the plastic connector out. Attached is two pictures one without the mark up and one with. There is a metal ring at the end of the rubber fuel line and I'm wondering if this is what holding that connector in? Does anyone have an experience with this, I've tried pulling it out with a few different tools but I really don't want to pull too hard just yet to rip it out at the bottom because then I'm in for even more work.
I tried to make the photos as useful as possible, the view is from just on top over the fuel rail looking to where the Coil Packs used to be. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it! ( Oh I should add I found a new connector and already tried it on the fuel rail side, 5/16 both sides and it fits perfectly.)
I have disconnected that line many times during head gasket jobs and if I remember correctly the metal ring is pressed/crimped and if you could get it off I don’t think you could get it back on.
Can you get the fuel line with the connector already installed?
Hey Frank, Thanks for the insight. Yeah it does appear to be in there pretty good. I do think the best action to take is remove the entire 5 inch rubber hose and install a new one with new clamps. I do have a replacement connector already so that shouldn't be too hard, it's just a matter of getting the rubber hose off of the metal fuel line. This is might try today.
