Should I pick these parts up myself at say a Napa or Pep Boys. Are any particular kinds or Brands better than others. Thanks again for your help

 

Spicer, Eaton and Prescision are the best brands. Stay away from Neapco. Some shops wont install your parts. Some will. Ask first.

Are there any other preventive maintenance tips you have to prevent costly repairs? Will any good mechanic know what I am talking about if I tell them to do this drive shaft rebuild?

 

Yes a good mechanic will know what you mean. The other thigs are flush and fill your coolant every 36months or 45,000 miles, whichever is sooner. Flush your brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage. Change trans fluid, differential fluids and transfer case fluid every 50,000 miles. Only use Magnecor spark plug wires. Others will not last.
