The best way to test what you are asking about is a little more work than just locking the center differential.
First, confirm your truck has the locking diff and that you can turn the diff lock selector shaft with a 10mm wrench.
Next, remove the front driveshaft, then lock the center diff and drive the truck. Doing that will give you the data you need to answer your questions.
