The Great Head Gasket Adventure
That is why most of these trucks are so f*#*ed up. Sober up and do it right. I work on some very high dollar cars and drinking and working on cars doesn't mix even though I can put a Rover engine together with my eyes closed.
Easy killer. It is my vehicle and If I f@ck it up what is it to you? Absolutely nothing. So back off.
I knew that as my first major mechanical event this was going to be a learning experience; I have learned a poop-ton about my rover, about what tools I need to own, and how to research thru the RAVE manual.
If you can put a rover engine together with your eyes closed - good for you. A few weeks ago I didnt even think I could take one apart. But now I know how to do that. I have even gotten pretty good at taking the top part of one apart and reassembiling it over the last few days since I keep messing up the plug wires.
btw most, but not all, of the beer and bourbon references in my posts are there for amusment value. The problem with my mechanical abilities is that I was at about 1 step past "failed shop class" before this event began. The mistakes that I am making are part of learning. Enless you came out of the womb with a full tool box and complete RAVE manual memorized I am sure you made a few of them yourself. I just have the ***** to tell everybody about them on this forum in the hopes that people learn from my mistakes too (dont EVER put a waterpump pulley on backwards for instance. Its bad juju) and so that those of you who have already made your mistakes (Discomike) and have a sense of humor (everybody who reads this except you) can laugh along with me. So if you dont like what I do to my truck or how much beer I drink while I do it Shut the F!ck up and read someone elses posts. Or pop a top on a beer and laugh along with my dumb drunken adventures.
and I was not clearing the codes. I wil clear them again and retry. thanks
nice diagram btw

Chill out. All I am saying is pay attention, make notes, take pictures, double check your work. I like beer too and drink plenty of it when I work on my truck. There isn't much you can screw up on it but when doing something for the first time it is a better idea to stay sober and pay attention.
SUCCESS!!!!
ITS ALIVE!
She started right up on the first try and is running quite well. I am getting only one code a P1590 for rough road signal fault on the ABS. I think this was preexisting fault that makes my 3 amigos stay on. I will have to do a forum search on it here in a min to verify.
The only thing she is doing wrong is that when I went to road test she started to die out on me and run rough under acceleration. Then it was pointed out to me that the fuel in her is almost 2 years old. So I added 5 gallons of fresh fuel and a bottle of seafoam to the 1/4 tank of old that was in still there and she is idling in the driveway for the next few hours to burn the old fuel off. Then we will try the road test again.
I really appreciate all the assistance I have gotten from you guys and am thankful that you guys are patient with my never-ending series of stupid questions.

So after an afternoon of idling with no check engine light or other malfunction I took her for another test drive. She is idling fine and runs good until I attempt to accelerate. When you press the accelerator the vehicle stalls and takes a few seconds to go back to idle. Once it even shut down completely and I had to shift to neutral and restart.
So I drove around the block with the ODBII scanner running real time data and got faults for P0130 and P0150 meaning both of my front O2 sensors are bad.
Would bad O2 sensors be causing the loss of power under acceleration or is there some other gremlin that I should check out first before I spend a couple hundred dollars on O2 sensors. Wait, I gotta buy them anyway so is there anything else I should check while I wait on them to get here? I need to replace all 4 of them at the same time correct?

Holy Moses pilsner. After reading the entire saga of the great headgasket adventure I have to say that I feel better about my broke down Disco. LOL. Keep plugging away at it. My DI was doing something very similar with the stall on acceleration and so I replaced my IACV. Now she idles at 200o RPM's so I am trying to figure out what the problem is now. And I had the O2 codes as well. I am waiting on them to come in. Good luck with yours. Hope you get it all worked out.
O2 sensors are best replaced in pairs (front pair or back pair), but no need to replace all 4 if only the front 2 are faulty. Edit: I just saw your mileage, you may as well replace all 4.
I would just drain that old gas and fill up with fresh stuff, who knows what happens to it after 2 years.

Just FYI pilsner I got my NGK O2s from www.racemart.com for a really good price. Website is kinda of a pain to navigate but they seem like a fair place to deal with.
What a saga Pilsner - congrats on staying with it and 'blogging' it all for our benefit. Please forgive for not remembering if you posted this or not, but through all of this have you replaced your MAF?
